What is Lucknow Chikankari ?

Lucknow Chikankari is a traditional Indian hand-embroidery craft known for its delicate stitches, elegant floral motifs and timeless beauty. Originating and flourishing in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, Chikankari has become one of India's most loved textile traditions.

Traditionally created with white thread on lightweight fabrics, modern Chikankari is now available in beautiful colours and fabrics such as cotton, Chanderi, georgette, organza and silk.

What Makes Chikankari Special?

Chikankari is created using a variety of intricate stitches, including Bakhiya, Murri, Phanda and Jaali. Floral, paisley, leaf and vine motifs are commonly used to create graceful patterns.

Today, Chikankari is found on kurtas, sarees, dupattas, Anarkalis, dresses and unstitched suit sets. It is also beautifully combined with Zardozi and Mukesh work for festive and occasion wear.
